Care guide
Every AlienCrow piece is handcrafted from rich leather, a natural material that ages rugged and beautifully. To make it last, we recommend the following care practices.
Handle with intention
Leather is a natural material and will respond to how it is treated.
- Avoid contact with rough, abrasive, or sharp surfaces that could scratch or mark the finish.
- Do not force leather to bend against its natural structure.
Store properly
When not in use, keep your piece in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight or heat sources. Ideally, store the items in a dust bag, laid flat or hanging naturally to preserve their shape.
Manage moisture
If your piece comes into contact with water, gently blot the surface with a clean, soft cloth and allow it to air dry at room temperature. NEVER use a hairdryer, radiator, or direct heat — this can cause the leather to crack or warp.
Be mindful of colour transfer
Our leathers are finished using traditional tanning methods. Darker and more saturated colours may transfer onto lighter fabrics, skin, or surfaces, particularly when new or when exposed to moisture or friction.
Clean gently
For regular maintenance, wipe the surface with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust and light marks. Avoid harsh chemicals, solvents, alcohol-based products, or excessive water, as these can damage the texture and finish of the leather.
Care for hardware
Metal fittings and hardware may develop a subtle patina over time through natural wear. To maintain their original finish, polish gently with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishing compounds.
Embrace the patina
With wear, your AlienCrow piece will develop its own unique patina — a gradual deepening of tone and a soft, natural sheen that comes from the oils in your hands and skin. This is not a flaw; it is a signature of genuine leather, well worn and well loved.
